Runt on the Run

ANSII's little boy was out of the hut running around this afternoon and then again this evening. He is the runt ofa litter of 3, with his sisters being nearly twice his size. Man is he cute!  He's the size of a deer mouse with all the features of a full grown hedgehog. Now if I could only keep him this size. I would have to check my records to get his age, but from the looks of his sisters, the litter has to be 4 and a half to 5 weeks old.  The little runt will be fine, and he'll grow to be a normal size. I will give him extra treats and some replacement milk.  HAH Roy was also a runt and he grew to be a great stud. The 2 foster babies are thriving.  Their milk bellies are full, and they are staying in the nest with I-Pod and their 2, slightly larger, new siblings.

Henry went to live with Wendy at the Burlington Science Center. Henry is a Hamor Hollow baby who was returned to us because his new family had a 2nd baby on the way and they wanted to do right by Henry.  When I met Wendy today and she told me about her program and how they go into class rooms and educate children on animals, I thought Henry would be the perfect hedgehog for the job.  I was right, they clicked immediately.  Henry and Wendy will be doing a lesson with kindergardeners and first graders after their teacher reads them 'The Mitten' by Jan Brett .

If you are local and have any spare fish tanks, unused animal cages and supplies, or even old blankets, sheets, and 2 liter bottles, please consider donating them to the Burlington Science Center. Here is a wishlist of things they need.  We will be cleaning out the basement of the Haverhill house and donating a lot of stuff.  The timing is perfect since we need to have the house cleaned out by Sept 30th for the new tenants.
