Good Morning!

It's 3:30AM and I just hand fed the 2 Foster babies. I found one of the babies out of the hut and when I checked him, he was cool to the touch and his belly was empty. He was barely moving, so I knew he needed to be warmed up quickly or he would die. Sean held him for me and got him warm (Sean makes a good baby warmer because he is full of hot air and therefore radiates more heat then I do). After that, I took him upstairs and stimulated him to urinate and then mixed up some formula and hand fed him. Once he caught on, he was very receptive to taking the syringe with the formula and he ate until I saw the white spot on his tummy get big (milk spot). After feeding the boy, I went to the nest and checked on his sister. She was next to I-Pod, but she was still a bit cool and her tummy was empty. She was a bit harder to hand feed because she didn't catch on to the syringe right away. After feeding her, I stimulated her and she urinated a little bit (small babies cannot urinate or deficete on their own and they need their mother to stimulate their private area to assist them in pottying).

Right now the babies are hanging out in my bra. I know it sounds weird, but breeders have discovered that this is the most effective way of warming up a baby and keeping them warm. I'm also willing to bet that the sound of your heart beat is soothing to them. They look pretty funny, each one has a head under my a breast and their little butts are touching.

They will have to go back to the nest soon. I really do need to get some sleep tonight. I'll wake up in a few hours and check on them and hopefully they will both be in the nest and full.
