The Woman With the Pants
I went to Walmart today to buy a pair of pants (stop laughing, really, stop it!). You have no idea how hard it is for a 5'1.5" 120(some) pound woman to buy a pair of jeans! The petite jeans are too long, and I'm too tall to shop from the midget catalog (sorry, I mean little people). Capri pants fall about 2" above my ankles and just look like I'm wearing high waters. I finally found a pair of size 7/8 (shut up mom!) no-name copper wash jeans for $18.95. I also bought 3 cases of soda (here's to size 9/10!), 10 yellow folders for new hedgehog owners, a pack of pens, and a slightly smutty romance novel. I believe I spent around $31.00, and only $1.50 of it was on hedgehog related stuff. That's a big change from the usual tab. Generally the it's something more like this; $75.24 for the hedgehogs and $1.50 for a pack of gummy fish for Kelly (and now you know what happened to size 5/6).
In other news, I found Little Red in the closet when I went to feed the hedgehogs. She must have walked in there earlier today, because I know she was in her cage last night. Much like Decal, Little Red has a routine of jumping out of her cage every day. Also like Decal, her cage is on a bottom shelf. Little Red is one of my younger girls who will reach breeding age very soon. I've been calling her Little Red because she has a red dot on her back to mark what litter she was from. She needs a real name, although I'm kinda starting to like 'Little Red'.
And speaking of Decal, I found her in Skidplate's cage again tonight. She's such a little brat! Her babies are getting bigger and really thriving. They were thrilled when mom was back in her cage, and they all started doing their little baby cries for mom's milk. They better enjoy it now, because weaning time is rapidly approaching.
The fosters are still rather tiny. I-Pod is doing her best, and her 2 natural children are doing well, but the foster kids just aren't thriving. I'm hoping for the best, but I know that there is a good chance that we'll lose them. I could pull them and try hand feeding them, but they stand a better chance with I-Pod.
ANSII's little runt was out and eating as soon as her heard the dinner bell. He's a little chow hound. A tiny little chow hound.
I noticed some funny little palups on Tosha when I was cleaning cages. I was worried, so I ran her right over to my vet. My first thought was that they were cancer, but my vet disagrees. He thinks that she may have gotten pricked by Henry's quills when they were mating and then reacted oddly to them. He said they felt like they were filled with liquid and we could sedate her and lance them if I wanted to but they weren't bothing her and he didn't think they would progress. I'm opting to wait on any type of treatment. Tosha could be 2 weeks pregnant and any type of anesthesia could be harmful to the babies (not to mention that anesthesia can be dangerous to the hedgehog). I'm going to keep a close eye on Tosha and hope for no change. Tosha is one of my little sweeties. She loves to tube and always has a tube on her head. My parents just think she is a scream and they ask about her every now and again.
