Updating the Breeding Book
Tonight I updated my breeding book. Ok, maybe update is the wrong word. 'Organized' is the word I'm looking for; I organized my breeding book. All the breeding papers were written out and in a pile, they just needed to be put into the clear plastic sleeves and added to the correct place in the line of upcoming litters. In order to have enough sleeves to add the new pages, I had to go through the old pages and consolidate the hedgehogs who had pages in 2 different sleeves as well as move out the papers from my retired ladies. It only took me about a half hour to get everything ordered correctly. So I guess that proves that it wasn't too badly done to begin with. I try to keep things in order and make my life less confusing, really I do try. It doesn't always work out for me, but I do try.
Next I have to tackle my 'black book of pedigrees and USDA papers'. Again, it's in good shape and it won't take too long. I have some pedigrees that I printed and need to add to it (I keep all my pedigrees on the computer in a program called 'Breedmate', so the paper version is really only for the benefit of looking organized when my USDA inspector makes an appearance). After I add the new pedigrees, I have to update my list of hedgehogs I own and where they came from. That will be quick and easy too.
The last thing that needs to be done in my evil plot to continue to be organized, is to color code (read: slap on a spot of paint) a few new hedgehogs and match the color up with the pedigree. I'm running out of new colors, so I've been doubling up on a few. Seriously, you can only put so many colors on one hedgehog before it just looks silly!
