Happy 4th Of July!
Pelham had their town fireworks last night. We live about a block from the school where they set them off, so I am glad that I didn't have any new litters. I am expecting some within a few days, but my timing worked out well and there were no litters to worry about. New moms can spook and kill off the babies very easily and quickly, and loud fireworks could certainly do the trick. I know breeders who have had moms kill off litters from just hearing the vacuum cleaner, so I was concerned. But everyone in the hedgehog room remained undisturbed. I did make it a point to run the A/C, fan, and dehumidifier, so that hopefully the 'white noise' would block out most of the racket. Sean and I ran outside to watch the town display. The tree line in our back yard was too high, so we walked up the street and watched through the clearing in front of our neighbor's house. It was a very impressive display for our small town. Fireworks are always beautiful and fun to watch.
Princess Sophie is visiting with us for a few days. Her owner lives in the next town over, and is going on a short vacation. Sophie has some mouth issues and needs soft food nightly, so she's staying with us. She is a very sweet girl who is about 4 years old and very well cared for.
We went to Val and Chip's house for a small picnic. I brought the leftover buns from Sean's party, as well as some deer burger (those of you who have had my parent's deer burger [mixed with slab bacon] know how yummy this is and perfect for a cook out). It was a nice little picnic. The weather held out just long enough, and then we had some drizzle after dinner.
The Prolapse girl is looking great today. She's still in a small cage by herself.
